The robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run on two feet.ASIMO was created at Honda's Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan.The name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility".

DETROIT, U.S.A., April 23, 2008– ASIMO will focus attention on the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's (DSO) nationally acclaimed music programs for young people in Detroit by conducting the orchestra as it performs "Impossible Dream" to open a special concert performance with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma at 8 p.m, Tuesday, May 13.
